What if your plastic material requirements for your production parts are more than what rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing technologies can produce? One method would be to use injection molding. Another method involves the use of lower-cost, simplified and smaller tools (e.g. one cavity instead of multi-cavity) or using tools of softer and cheaper materials (aluminum).
