3D Printing in FESPA

The FESPA conferences program includes 38 individual sessions, and 3D Printing will stand out among them, as it has been confirmed the presence of Dominik Rietzel, head of the non-metallic Additive Manufacturing department of the BMW Group, who will present his vision about the future of 3D Printing.

BMW APRIETA EL ACELERADOR

En los ultimos años se viene observando un incremento de la utilización del 3D Printing por parte de las mas afamadas firmas de automoción.

Entre todas ellas cabria destacar a la alemana BMW, quien desde hace tiempo ha incorporado la tecnologia FDM para el desarrollo de nuevos productos en su planta de Regensburg (Alemania).

En palabras de Günter Schmid, ingeniero de I+D en la firma bávara, "BMW está convencida de la importancia de incorporar la tecnología FDM como alternativa frente a los procesos tradicionales de fabricación: Incorporar la tecnología FDM nos ha permitido reducir costes tanto de fabricación como de almacenaje. Por otro lado, incorporar esta tecnología nos ha permitido producir piezas y componentes de formas complejas, que habrían sido practicamente imposibles de producir por los medios tradicionales de fabricación".
