King's College Hospital Selects Stratasys


Medical students and doctors are being trained to use 3D printing, especially when it comes to treating major injuries affecting the head, mouth, jaw, face and neck. "In the past, they did not have this technology, so they had to [treat patients] manually. But nowadays, if I didn't have 3D printer technology, I wouldn't be able to do my work," Dr. Muhanad Hatamleh, a senior clinical maxillofacial prosthetist at King's College Hospital, told IBTimes UK at the 3D Printshow 2015 in London. The hospital is making use of a Stratasys Objet Eden260VS printer that features a print resolution of 16-micron layers. This is not only the same thickness as a human hair but also the thinnest layer accuracy in the industry today. (Read more...)

London: 3D PrintShow 2013


London was the center of the 3D Printing world last week as over 12,000 technology providers, designers, manufacturers, business people, students and amateurs from all over the world gathered to explore the industry’s latest innovations at the 3D PrintShow 2013.

Models and products created with 3D Printers were there representing a wide variety of fields and applications:

  • Shoes and complements: 3D printed shoes designed by Reem D. Koolhaas and Iris van Herpen were featured and the ibag 3D printed purse designed by Catherine Andreozzi.
  • Characters' costumes, and special effects: Jason Lopes, Lead Systems Engineer of Legacy Effects presented a lecture and addressed his work on films including Iron Man and Pacific Rim.
  • Automotive: Jim Kor, president of Kor EcoLogic and the designer of the hyper-efficient, 3D printed URBEE brought the car itself and took it for a spin around the exhibit hall.
  •  Medicine and consumer goods: Ilan Levin, Member of the Board at Stratasys, presented at the Elite Business Conference, covering the numerous benefits 3D printing offers to a wide range of prosthetic applications and consumer goods.
